Obituary

Henry Jones

1948-2022 (Age 73)

Cherished husband of Jackie (Jacqueline) Jones (nee Lameront) for 27 years.  Beloved father of Anita Hopkins (Wayne), Robert Jones (Emma).  Adoring Pops to Tinya Savoy (Dan), Jeffrey Boake (Jackie) and James Bresolin.  Recently predeceased by his beautiful stepdaughter Jennifer Boake. They are now joined together in peace and comfort.

Devoted and loving Granddad and Poppa to Alex (Karl), Jordan (Jordan), Nathaniel (Stevie), Rebecca, Travis (Sarah), Kaleb (Daisy), Riley (Clarissa) and Nick (Katelyn) in addition to many fun fur babies.

Proud Great-grandad to Jaidan, Kaidan, Olivia, Tommy and Emelia.

His family knew how much he loved them and they loved him so dearly.  His daughter Anita shared it best that “he always had the ability to make me feel safe and listened and never judged when I screwed up”.

Henry was also a proud Son, Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle, Cousin and Mate to many in the UK and Canada.

Henry had an impressive variety of career paths throughout his life, from working in a coal mine at 15 to becoming the owner of the Roxy Roller Rink/Pub in the UK to name a few. He was the most proud owner (alongside his wife Jackie) of Roadshow Canada Inc. in Innisfil, Ontario still in operation fulfilling his lifelong passion and mission. Their journey began in Cookstown, Ontario in 1995 at Cookstown Castle Antique Centre which evolved to creating and owning Roadshow Antiques Pickering which opened in 2013 and closed in 2021. He will be deeply missed by his staff, vendors and cherished customers.

Henry lived a life full of adventure. He never took a single day for granted. He was very passionate about sports. Throughout the 1960's, Henry was Captain of the Shelton Tigers Cycle Speedway Team.  From his own children when they were wee to his grandkids and kids of all ages he took pride in coaching the game of soccer that he loved so much. His kids Anita and Robert, as well as the grandkids remember hearing his voice always on the sidelines.

Henry was an outstanding athlete and played soccer himself until the age of 59. And if you knew him, you knew he was also very passionate in his lifelong support/obsession of his beloved Stoke-on-Trent team. Family and friendship first and foremost was at the centre of his life, he lived to share these moments with everyone.

One of the most memorable moments for our families’ was the day he was surprised with a visit of his kids and grandkids from the UK for his 70th Birthday.  The look of complete joy on his face is etched in our memories forever.

He made time for anyone who needed him.  He especially loved hosting parties, attending dinners, traveling, music, dancing, playing golf and enjoying a cold pint.

Henry’s impeccable sense of humour oftentimes left many speechless and gobsmacked!  He went to extensive lengths to prank and promote shock and awe to people with his well planned antics. He always looked at the bright side of life and acted incredibly young at heart. He was kind, generous, outgoing and brilliant.  He took pride in all of his goals, dreams, projects and unique inventions.

Henry touched all lives in the most charming way.  He had the biggest heart...enough to go around for everyone...and his smile was beautiful.  You were either his “love” or his “mate” and he truly cared about everyone he met.

Henry will be missed by anyone and everyone who had the pleasure of being in his presence for a minute, a moment or a lifetime.
